EVAN JOHNSON 

Evan is a Bay Area based writer, performer and teaching artist. He is the actor and creator of Pansy (New Conservatory Theatre Center), Don’t Feel: The Death of Dahmer (Mama Calizo’s Voice Factory) and Barn Owl (CounterPulse). A graduate of The Dell’Arte School of Physical Theatre, Evan has collaborated with local dance/theatre makers Jesse Hewitt (FREEDOM), Hope Mohr (ridetherhythm), Liz Tenuto (The Two Legits, In the Velvet) and Nathaniel Justiniano (Shame!). In 2007, Evan performed as a clown with Ricochet Circus Theatre throughout India. He’s studied with Master Clowns Giovanni Fusetti and Ronlin Foreman. He is the director of Harvey Milk Center for the Arts’ Junior Acting Troupe and he currently teaches Improv, Playwriting and Acting courses to Seniors and Young People throughout the Bay Area. In 2011, Evan was nominated for a Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award (Best Actor in a Drama) for Treefall at NCTC. His play Don’t Feel: The Death of Dahmer was featured in the SF Bay Guardian’s year end review as one of the best small theatre productions of 2010. Pansy has been performed in San Francisco (NCTC, SAFEHouse for the Arts) and Blue Lake, CA (Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre) as well as Portland, OR (Post5 Theatre) and New York City (The United Solo Festival at Theatre Row). His work has been supported by Z Space, Intersection for the Arts, Grants for the Arts and numerous private donors.
